House of Juju Hats is a brand dedicated to preserving and sharing the beauty of traditional African craftsmanship. Our shop specializes in handmade African wall decor and furniture, including the iconic Bamiléké Juju hats, Bamileke coffee tables, traditional stools, and royal chairs handcrafted in Cameroon.
Our story begins in the Bamiléké region of Cameroon, the cultural home of the famous Juju hat feather headdress. The founder of House of Juju Hats is a descendant of one of the first families known for producing traditional Juju hats.
At the age of 16, he was chosen to perform as one of the royal dancers during an important traditional ceremony led by the tribal chief, who was also his grandfather at the time. The Juju hat he wore during that ceremony was carefully handcrafted by his mother, who was a princess in the community and a skilled artisan.
That experience sparked a deep love for the artistry and cultural significance of Bamiléké Juju hats. Inspired by their beauty and meaning, he began learning how to make them under the guidance of his mother. Every afternoon she patiently taught him the traditional techniques used to create these remarkable pieces of handmade African decor.
Within a few weeks, he created his first Juju hat, a moment that remains one of the proudest memories of his life.
For more than 20 years, he has continued to produce authentic Juju hats, which are now appreciated by collectors, interior designers, and homeowners around the world. Today, these traditional feather headdresses have become a popular form of African wall decor, admired for their texture, craftsmanship, and ability to bring warmth and elegance to modern interiors.
Each handmade Juju hat is created using natural or dyed feathers carefully mounted on a woven cotton base through a detailed artisanal process. Because every piece is handmade, no two Juju hats are exactly the same, making each one a unique work of art.
At House of Juju Hats, we are also committed to preserving this cultural tradition for future generations. The founder is now teaching his daughters the art of making Juju hats, ensuring that this important heritage continues.
In addition to Juju hats, we also produce Bamileke coffee tables, Bamileke stools, and traditional royal chairs, all handcrafted from wood by skilled artisans in Cameroon. These pieces are known for their intricate carvings and sculptural designs, making them both functional furniture and striking decorative objects.
Today, House of Juju Hats proudly shares authentic handmade African decor from Cameroon with customers around the world, combining tradition, artistry, and modern interior design.
Every piece we create carries a story — a story of culture, family heritage, and the timeless beauty of African craftsmanship.
